Bringing you safely through high school and into college

Yet another UC fee increase? It could happen.

The president of the UC system, Mark Yudof, is proposing an additional increase in the cost of attending a UC — as much as 30% more by next year, in fact.

Fees to attend a UC have already gone up in the last year due to the budget situation in California, and it looks like we could be due for another one.

The UC system has long been known for being affordable, but lately costs of skyrocketed, to the point where it now costs around $27,000 each year.

This is ridiculous, and it just makes college less affordable and possible. Education is crucial, yet if costs keep rising, it becomes less and less feasible. Plus, on top of all this, I constantly hear word that the UC administrators are paid exorbitant salaries, yet they continue to suggest cutting spending and increasing fees.

What do you think?

Wow, I can’t believe that it is 27,000! Ironically enough, everyone is supposed to need a college degree these days, but how are you supposed to be able to afford it? Still, I know a lot of people that are really successful without college, so I guess you have to decide whether or not it is for you or if you can even afford to go.

What is even more distressing about all of these increases is the fact that student loans are becoming more and more difficult to get. Their has been recent discussions that it will be required from banks that students with large loans are required to have a life insurance policy (just to cover loan repayment!)

Students are of course becoming more discouraged by this system. Costs continue to rise, with relief being harder to obtain.

It really hurts when we hear about increase as high as 30%. Hurray, $27,000 is an unimaginable money for me. Administration must think from the plate of students and parents.
Still there are lot of talented guys out there who are willing to study, but unable to do so because of fee. People must think.

Tuition’s are getting way out of control. Just the other night I saw all of the UCLA students getting carried away by the police with their protest on the LARGE cost increase of about 30% at their school. We are going to have a nation that forces students to NOT enroll in higher education. It is very sad!

Bill, I agree with you about the tuition getting out of control. I have a son that goes to college full time and the only way that we could afford to send him off, was to have him go to community college for three years and then finish up at a major university for the final fourth year. It is sad how expensive college now is.

Incredible! And the worst part is that after they graduate students cannot find a job. We should have college education more accessible so that students can enroll in higher education , and can compete with the rest of the world. We are turning into an uneducated society, where the there is no incentives, no appreciation of professionals. We give all our attention to stupid tv shows, sports, movie starts, and do not give importance to our students. Sad!
