I had the exact same revelation when i went to college! What some people do in those showers is really disgusting!

I totally agree with you on this one, I would not dream of going into public showers bare foot.

Definately always use foot protection in these public showers – I know a girl that got some horrible foot thing at uni and it wrecked her second year!

Always use shower shoes in public places and an antifungal spray as mentioned above. Toenail fungus can be hard to get rid of and can come back over and over, I remember my mother in law back in the late 90′s had toenail fungus and it took her almost a year to get rid of. So Prevention is the best medicine.

Remember to think about the bottom of your feet as well, I got plantar warts (foot warts) from dorm showers, so it’s not just athletes foot and stuff… Don’t bring that home for the holidays..eheh.

Another good idea is to spray your shower shoes with an antifungal spray or sprinkle with foot powder. This will help to make sure the shoes are dry and kill any lingering bacteria you might have picked up.
