Hey, this article with the services you listed are all great. Moreover, people who want to go back to college can also narrow their research and look for *specific* scholarships that target men, women, moms, or dads.

When prospective students narrow down their research, they will find that getting free financial aid money is a lot easier, as the competition is not as tough to compete with when they narrow our view from the “broad” to the “specific”. Students can get financial aid money from services such as FAFSA, FinAid, Financial Aid Finder, SallieMae, and other similar services.

Like in anything where someone needs any information, research is always the key. With the internet and the top colleges with their own websites finding information should not be hard.

Not sure if you could describe the information out there as a mountain or a swamp. The major issues we confront are that the colleges market directly to the students (very aggressively, as you point out) and bypass the parents to a large degree.

Yet the payment issue revolves the Expected Family Contribution. So, oftentimes, not all the stakeholders (parents and possibly siblings) are in the game, so to speak, until late on.

I actually recommended using the matchmaker on College Board for my niece who is a senior in high school, and it really helped her because she had a lot of questions and didn’t know which school would suit her best. It is so great that they have helpful databases like this.
