I am SOOO glad I stumbled on this page! I’m going to share it with my friends whose kids are going off to college. They were tearing their hair at what to take to the dorms. Now, they’ll know…and they’ll save on toupees :)

I would just say, call and find out if the dorm already supplies an iron so you don’t have to bring one only to find out you didn’t need to. And also find out if they allow you to use a microwave in your room. Some dorms have rules against that.

And bring some kind of tote bag for the shower where you can put your shampoo and soap and clean clothes and towel and toss your dirty clothes into. And definitely, wear flip flops in the shower.
