Every year, you inevitably have to take a new picture for your school ID card. I always liked it because it got me out of a class period, but beyond that it was never really interesting. My pictures always looked the same.

Come senior year though, we had to take pictures twice — the first time was a formal picture that went in the yearbook. The second was only used on our ID card. We decided to have some fun with it, and so we asked the photographer if we could make funny faces. She said yes, and soon it caught on. All of the seniors had weird pictures on their ID cards.

Whether or not your high school does the same thing, taking a funny picture is priceless.

How can you go wrong with this?!

If you’re aiming to take an entertaining picture, there are two ways you can do it.

A) Ask the photographer. He/she might say yes, he/she might say no. Most will say no.

B) Just do it. If you ask and the photographer says no, you can’t really do this without being noticed, but if you’re quick enough, you can make a quick wince or face when the picture is shot and it will end up being kept. If the photographer doesn’t notice, you win! If it is noticed, you’ll probably have to retake the picture, but at least you tried.

The worst that will happen is a mere slap on the wrist. The memory of a good picture is worth it. This goes along with what I was saying about breaking a few rules now and then.

Just hope that your parents aren’t expecting nice pictures….
