This was a really helpful site for my school projects. I disagree on the one of the pros. My school uniforms cost a whole bunch of money. I've had the same uniforms for about 2 years. Now they want to change them!!!! My last year at this school and they want to go and change the already terrible uniforms!

i go to a private school and i have to wear a uniform and i hate it, but i can see why my school does it. there are more then 1000 kids at my school and when we occasionly get to wear free dress we are alot more ,louder and we dont do any of our work, Also when i talk to people about free dress days they are always worried about what other people think of what they are wearing. When i asked my parents what they thought they said that uniforms are a good thing, it helps stop bullying, they said that with everyone wearing the same thing no one can be picked on for not wearing the trendyest clothes.

Rules should only be enforced if they have a purpose, and as far as I can tell there is no real reason why school uniforms are neccessary. I don't really agree with the point about gangs wearing the same clothes. I don't think them having to wear the same uniform as everyone else will alter their behaviour.

I strongly believe students should be given the freedom of choice. Removing that freedom is counter productive as kids will always find ways to distinguish themselves. This means girls may wear smaller skirts and boys may wear their pants lower and have their boxers show. Those may not be the best examples but from what I've heard from teachers at schools with uniforms. The kids always manage to somehow to individualize themselves.

I think a couple years back some kids started wearing these bracelets with their uniforms and the different colors meant they'll be up for doing different sexual favors or something along those lines. I wouldn't be surprised if uniforms only cause greater rebellion.

I'm sure when I was in school I would of had a problem with a uniform, but as an adult I really don't see what the big deal is. We would probably have less spoiled brats if parents weren't buying their kids expensive clothes and stuff like that.
