Sometimes you just have to take some time off a relax. Getting stressed can make you feel worse, so even if you have a lot of work to do try to forget about it and worry about it when you're better. Not always as easy as it sound though. Obviously it depends how bad you are feeling.

Getting sick at school is a bad feeling. That is a good tip cause if you sleep more it will help and give you more energy. Im starting to watch what I eat also cause this could really be a big deal.

Nice article..

@Asherah: That's horrible, I'm sorry to hear that. It's really a bummer how some professors simply don't care. I understand not giving you a break because it could be unfair to other students, but universities need better policies about sickness -- in your case, it completely ruined your semester. You should've been allowed to drop the classes, consequence-free or something. Having mono is miserable, and it's even worse knowing that you're falling behind in all your classes and can't do anything to help yourself.

i had mono in the middle of the semester. I had it really bad, I am one of the lucky few people who are uber affected by it. I was sick for 2 weeks, I missed about 4 days of classes (every class 0.o) because I was in my dorm barfing. Anything and everything I ate outside of the relm of saltine crackers came back to haunt me for a week. I slept 14-18 hours a day. I had a profesor who wouldnt let me make up my work, despite my university excuse note, and since I was still too sick to go to the dean, I had to drop.
Then, after those 2 weeks from hell, I had midterms. Which I failed. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Even the nicest Professors don't understand a full 2 weeks of being sick.
Then I was alright. Till a month later I relapsed. 2 Weeks before finals. Then i get over that.
Its finals week now. My roommate got sick. She got me sick. I got REALLY sick. She just coughs.
THIS SEMESTER BLOWS

My son had h1n1 and it was bad for one day then it got better with the tamiflu he was taking. It really does take you down though. Need to rest and be careful not to get sick.

@Duyen: No problem! I'm actually a little bit sick now too, and I've been having to pick and choose what I can handle and what I can't. I hate having to miss class, but I know I'm not up for handling everything.

Hi.

Thanks for your tip. I got sick since monday morning because I left my window open for some cool air since my fan was broken and my sister told me the temperature is going to drop drastically to 60 degrees. I thought I could handle it. Sleeping with the window open was a habit for me. Then when I woke up the next day, I start feeling something in my throat as if it's really sore. I start feeling a bit drowsy in the evening and had to miss one of my class to get some extra hours of sleep and was planning to study for a midterm that's on friday. It turned out I wasn't able to study at all but I just end up sleeping the entire day. I had to miss an entire day of class the following day because it was raining like cats and dogs and there was some pretty high winds. Luckily I only had one class and my friend said she'll make a copy of her notes for me and I just need to listen to podcast to get a better understanding of the materials.

I had a tough time deciding whether I should attend my class today. Today is thursday. I have a discussion in the morning for an hour and a textiles lab for 3 hours and then my biochem class for an hour and 20 minutes and then I have physical therapy right after that. My midterm is on friday and so far I only reviewed 2 lectures out of the 8 lectures that's going to be on the midterm tomorrow.

All of the courses today is important. But after reading your page, it helped me decide which class to go to. I was thinking of going to my discussion class since we're having a presentation next week and my group need my laptop and need me to print out the outline to turn in. besides it's only an hour. After that I can go straight home and then nap. I'm not so sure about attending my biochem class. I can always get the notes from my friend and just listen to podcast. I listen to podcast either way so I don't left anything out. As for physical therapy, I think I have to go to that one because I wasn't able to attend any this week. Then after physical therapy and that extra hours of napping, I should have enough strength to stay up till midnight to study for my midterm the next day. I probably have to skip work also.

I do feel bad for skipping work though but I think my co-workers and supervisors would like it better if I stay home due to sickness.

Thank you so much. This page really helped me alot :]

I'll see if I can find some way to organize my work in a way that it doesn't seem daunting. Thank you!

@Sara: There's not much you can do to recover fast beyond the general tips I gave -- rest, eat healthy, drink water, etc. If it's a treatable illness, then perhaps you can take medicine for it. However, if your sickness is caused by stress, your best bet is to try to reduce your stress.

I'm in highschool, but it's really important that I get nearly perfect marks because the program I wan't to get into in University is incredibly competitive. When I get stressed, I get sick very easily. It's not necessarily my immune system. Usually I just feel tired, but it get's to the point that I can't open my eyes. You're article helped, but I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to get well FAST seeing as falling behind is not an option for me.
