Star Trek: My review

On Friday night, I went to see the new Star Trek movie. I’d heard a lot of the hype beforehand, such as its high score on Rotten Tomatoes, so I figured I might as well give it a shot. I’m not a Star Trek follower, and except for a few major characters, I really don’t know that much about it at all.

I was pleasantly surprised by the movie.

Hands-down the best thing about the movie was how accessible it was. Even if you had never really followed Star Trek, you could quickly learn about the basic setting of the time, as well as the different characters and their personalities. Many famous lines from the earlier movies were present here, which made the audience laugh and/or applaud. This definitely isn’t a movie that will only appeal to Star Trek fans — any fan of science fiction or action movies will enjoy this.

The special effects were well-done. While it didn’t feel like the movie was trying to go all out with special effects, what they did have was definitely convincing and didn’t feel fake at all.

There were a few plot holes here in there, as well as things that just wouldn’t be possible, but all in all none of it was a huge hindrance to the movie.

If you like space style movies (especially Star Wars), this is definitely worth watching. I’m glad I spent $10 on it.

I absolutely loved all the characters except for the new Spock — i liked the original stoic version more than the new condescending version

Ye I went to go see it today and I really enjoyed the movie. I liked the new Spock the Kirk character seemed more like an action star than an actor. But all in all, worth the time.
