About the badges on the sidebar…

If you haven’t noticed before, you might notice now that there are a few badges on the sidebar at the bottom of the list of stuff.
They used to be at the very bottom, but after adding one or two more it ended up taking a second line and that just looked awful, so I decided to move them onto the sidebar. I may move them once again, I’m still not sure.
I haven’t taken any time to explain them so I figure it would be nice if I did. If you’re a blogger, one or more might appeal to you too.
These two buggers are from the site BlogTopList, a directory of blogs divided into categories. The one on the left designates my ranking for my category (academics) and serves as a tracker, keeping count of how many people view this blog. The right one is a “Vote” link. If clicked, the “Vote” link significantly helps my score, much more than the tracker would.
This one comes from Technorati, an extremely popular blog site. By clicking the button, it allows you to add the blog to your ‘Favorites’.
This is a reciprocal link from Blogged.com, yet another blog directory site. On the site, you can rate blogs in a category. This is for Rankingblogs.com, which keeps track of some blog stats and is another blog directory site. This one is much less-known, I believe, as my ranking on it is higher than any of the others.
Coming from TagSociety, this one is a reciprocal link that simply lets me be a member. TagSociety allows people to ‘tag’ a website based on its content.
This badge is from BlogFlux, which is very similar to Blogtoplist. Having this badge enables me to be on the listings.
And this little fellow comes from BlogCatalog, a rising source of blogs to read.
This one I’ve already explained, but I suppose it couldn’t hurt to mention it again. This is a badge that designates this site as being no-follow free. For more information, see this post.
And that’s it. If you have any questions about a badge and what it means or what the site does, feel free to ask.

I like them on the sidebar. They are easier to see :)
