Statistics for February 2009

Since seeing Nihar over at Nihar’s World do this, I’ve thought it might be fun to make monthly posts showing my stats as well. Although my stats aren’t nearly as impressive as his, perhaps you might be interested:

Highlights of February 2009:
- By and away, the most popular post was The Top 35 Web Design Galleries. That post amassed over 30,000 hits in the last month. Those spikes you see in the page views came from that post.
- That same post is also 70% of the way there to catching up to the current “Most Popular” post of 50 More Unique Fantastic Contraption Solutions. That post was the second most-viewed this month, and continues to be pretty popular. Whether or not the web galleries can catch up, we shall see.
- February has brought more traffic to Xatal than any other month. In October I received about 30,000 hits total, but February received around 40,000. The other months are significantly lower.
- Referring sites made up about 80% of my traffic sources for February, and search engines made up about 11%. I’m trying to find ways to help increase my search results — any ideas?
- The majority of the referring site traffic came from StumbleUpon. StumbleUpon has really shown itself as an incredible source of traffic, and I’m grateful for everybody who stumbles my posts. Delicious also brought some traffic as well.
- As for search engines, most of the keywords involve “Fantastic Contraption”, though “school uniforms debate” is also pretty common as well. And many people seem to want to know how to make Zoey and Louis scream in Left 4 Dead.
So that’s February! I’m curious what March will bring. The bar has been set pretty high this time.
