Bringing you safely through high school and into college

Statistics for February 2010

  • Once again, funny Google searches leads the way with about 25% of visits and about 21% of search traffic. This is pretty cool, and I just realized that that post is the top search result for those words. Awesome!
  • A good 8% of traffic has gone to college dorm necessities. I’m a bit surprised that people are looking for dorm supplies in February — maybe students are transferring?
  • Search engines gave me 83% of my traffic. StumbleUpon provided about one thousand hits, but really this isn’t that much and referring sites haven’t been a big part of Xatal for a while.
  • Xatal had its second guest post this month. Guest posts are awesome, and if you would like to write one, go ahead and contact me!

All in all February was another pretty average month here.

Now for a poll!

Who in your immediate family has gone to college? (check all that apply)

Great results! I’m surprised so much of your traffic is coming from google. My mix is about 20% direct, 60%google and 20% direct.

Nice statistics, you’re pulling in some good traffic for covering a general niche. Looks like it’s paying off though. Thank you for being dofollow/keywordluv. I’m building a list of keywordluv sites with content i actually would like to post about.. Adding yours now :)

Paul,
Congratz on another great month. Thanks again for letting me guest post. I was at work the other day and someone asked me to take a look at this funny Google thing and I walked over and they were looking at your site! Small world.

@Jay: That’s pretty cool! I don’t think I’ve ever ran into someone in the real world using my site… I dunno how I’d handle that, it’d be very awkward. Thank you again for the guest post, and if you ever want to do another, you’re welcome to!

@Liam: It’s really been a gradual increase, and I think it’s come from a larger and larger amount of overall posts and a higher pagerank. Initially I didn’t get many results from Google at all, but now it’s huge.

You receive an impressive amount of traffic, I’m interested to know how long the site has been active for, and how does this amount of traffic translate into earnings?

Looks like your February traffic was awesome in terms of the numbers, interesting though to also see a wide range of topics bringing you traffic. It is a bit of surprise that people are searching for dorm necessities in February, but I would imagine that it’s considering less compared to the month of August searches for that topic.

Till then,

Jean

Hmm, interesting so you have less visits in the week-end when people are less busy. That’s strange usually traffic should increase in week-ends.
Anyway I can see that you are improving (at least compared to January) and that can only be a good thing, right ?

Awesome analytics, seems like you still have it. It would be nice to read something small or an update. If not enjoy your time off.
