Statistics for November 2009

Xatal-traffic-for-November-2009Highlights of November 2009:

  • November was a pretty steady month overall — there were no especially large bursts or slumps, just a pretty typical level of fluctuation.
  • November did about as well as October. I received about 100 less hits in November, which isn’t a significant amount at all — plus November has one less day than October!
  • By far the most popular post of the month was about funny Google searches, raking in 21% of my total traffic, as well as 22% of my traffic from search engines alone. The next biggest post was about reasons why long distance relationships fail, which brought in about 2,000 hits.
  • A whopping 72% of my traffic came from search engines this month. While I do enjoy the periodic StumbleUpon bursts, I’m grateful that I have a reliable and constant source of traffic from search engines.

Since 2009′s almost over, how about we see how the year went for everyone with a new poll?

How good has 2009 been for you?

I’m starting to fall off google for some weird reason, I’ve gone from over 500 a day down to 300-200 which is really starting to suck! I’ve been expanding my core readership but losing my google traffic so I’m really not expanding my overall traffic.

Hey, paul nice to see the stats. Looks like your site is getting into stability. I think if you can participate in social media websites you can increase the traffic to great level. Do see if you have time.

Consistent numbers. Its good that your building stability month over month, building a nice base for yourself. Looks like the 1000/day is roof that needs to be broken through to get to the next level.

@Article Directory: That’s pretty true. I’m working on posting more so that I can push past it.

Isn’t it addicting to look at your stats? It’s great that you are seeing consistency in your numbers, but I have a problem with looking at my stats all of the time, so it is a little bit obsessive :)

@Mark: I go through phases. Some weeks I’ll monitor everything extremely close, trying to notice anything subtle that I can somehow exploit (I never can). Others, I’ll go a week or so without ever checking how I’m doing. It usually goes hand-in-hand with how active I’ve been on the blog.

You’re doing great there. 1000 visitors a day is a lot for one site. I think Dec will a low visitor month overall. Most people will be away from the computer. Heck, so would I.
